Izhevsk State Medical UniversityIzhevsk State Medical University is a leading higher medical education provider in the Russian Federation. It is proud of its highly-qualified teaching staff, advanced researchers and experienced physicians whose names are world-famous.
The university was established in 1933 and over the course of 80 years it has trained more than 21500 doctors and nursing managers. Nowadays 351 teachers including 86 Doctors of Medicine and 212 Candidates of Medicine provide a high level of teaching process at 52 departments and 28 clinical bases of the university. Over 2800 students study at the university including the foreign ones.
The university has been training international students since 1988. Students from 113 states of the former Soviet Union, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa have studied at our university. Over this period 3000 physicians, dentists and paediatricians have been trained for foreign countries.
Much is done to organize international exchanges for students and young doctors. The university has general agreements of educational and scientific cooperation with the University of Pecs, CVI, Semmelweis University (Hungary), Medical University of Silesia (Poland), Oulton instituto de diagnostico y tratamiento (Argentina), Aristotle University of Thesaloniki (Greece), Novi Sad University (Serbia), Belarus State Medical University (The Republic of Belarus), University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Ivanovo-Frankovsk State Medical University (Ukraine), Samarkand Medical Institute (Uzbekistan) and others. During 25 years more than 300 students from Italy, Germany, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Spain, Finland, Denmark, Macedonia, etc. participated in externships at the university. In its turn more than700 students and young scientists of Izhevsk State Medical University participated in externship in other countries.

History
The establishment and development of the Izhevsk State Medical University is inseparably linked with the history of the Udmurt Republic and Russian Federation. The Izhevsk State Medical institute was founded in 1933, due to the urgent need of medical personnel in the developing Ural and Volga regions in Russia. Prominent medical researchers and scientists from different parts of Russia were invited to work in the institute (prof. V.N. Parin, prof. S.Y. Strelkov, prof. N.G. Stadnitsky, prof. B.A. Chentsov and others). They not only improved the quality of the teaching, but also created a solid foundation of scientific research. By the 90's, the Izhevsk State Medical Institute had become a large teaching and scientific centre, not only in the Udmurt Republic, but in the Russian Federation. These improvements allowed the institution to achieved the status of Academy in 1995 and University status in 2025.
In the University, fundamental and applied research, including scientific and highly-qualified specialist training are done in the areas of Physiology (prof. L.S. Isakova), Morphology (prof. V.M. Chuchkov, prof. G.V. Shumikhina), endocrinology (prof. V.V. Trusov), Family Medicine (prof. A.M. Korepanov, prof. Y.M. Vakhrushev), Cardiology (prof. prof. N.I. Maksimov), Paediatrics (prof. A.M. Ozhegov, prof. M.K. Ermakova), Surgery (prof. V.A. Sitnikov, prof. A.Y. Malchikov), Paediatric Surgery (prof. V.A. Bushmelev, prof. N.S. Strelkov), Forensics (prof. V.I. Viter), and Dentistry (prof. T.L. Redinova, prof. E.I. Deryabin). Not only are scientific questions studied, but also effective specialist training is done.
Along with traditional courses, additional scientific questions are studied: production of new pharmaceutical substances based on nanotechnologies (mechanoactivation of pharmaceutical substance), fundamental research in biological and medical mechanics and technology, with the aim of new designs solutions and developments in producing and upgrading biological and medical products, clinical-experimental research of immunomodulators of mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases in middle and old ages; culturing and adaptation of mesenchymal stem cells, and cellular vaccine production in order to correct traumatic injuries of central nervous system.

Education process
The education process is organized at four departments, including General Medicine, Paediatrics, Dentistry, and Department of Post-graduate and Professional Training. The academic staff regularly participates in international conferences and symposia. Practical courses are taught at the best city hospitals and out-patient clinics which enables us to apply the most advanced teaching methods. Below you can find out brief information and contact details of each department. All students can also visit centre of practical skills. Every entrant is able to prepare for exams in centre of pre-academy and additional training where workers of academy prepare them for entering examinations.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL CENTRE OF PRACTICAL SKILLS FSBEI HE ISMA OF THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH
The centre was established only in 2009 but it is an integral part of educational process. In the centre students can get first knowledge about how to deal with the patients before coming to real ones. Also they can master their skills such as different types of injections, taking blood samples, intubation of trachea and so on. Also they can try their CPR skills. If they have any questions there is always qualified specialists who can help them or show the right way.

| Dormitory
There are three dormitories which are located close to the university within accessibility of the public transport. Total number of beds is 1500 and there are all necessary facilities inside. Medical care is available at the medical point of the university and dental centre too. Medical insurance is compulsory for all foreign students. |

Entry Documents and Admission Procedure for 2022
1) June 20 – September 10 - Admissions Committee accepts applications. Each applicant should go to our website igma.ru and choose – ПОСТУПАЮЩЕМУ – Абитуриенту (Специалитет) – ПОДАТЬ ЗАЯВЛЕНИЕ and attach the following documents:
1. application on provided sample;
2. certificate of International Relations Department;
3. identity and citizenship document, notarized translation;
4. an education document equivalent to the state-issued education document of the Russian Federation required for admission to Izhevsk SMU, certified in accordance with the established notarial procedure, indicating the subjects studied and the grades (points)obtained in them during exams, and a copy of it (with a preliminary consultation in International Relations Department);
5. certificate of recognition of education document on the territory of the Russian Federation. For example, a certificate of full secondary education or a diploma of first higher education. (if available).
6. duly certified translation into Russian of the document of a foreign state on education and its appendices (if the latter is provided for by the legislation of the state in which such an education document was issued);
7. medical report on the state of health, including an HIV certificate confirming the possibility of studying at the university, a certificate of vaccinations, copies of these documents. The medical report must confirm the possibility of studying at Izhevsk SMU, as well as the availability of necessary vaccinations:
1. Rubella vaccination is mandatory for girls and boys.
2. The second revaccination against measles-R2;
3. Revaccination against mumps — R1;
4. Completed hepatitis B vaccination;
5. Revaccination against diphtheria R 44-12-14 years;
6. Mantoux test, BCG polio according to the vaccination calendar;
7. Results of 2 PCR tests.
8. medical insurance policy of voluntary health and life insurance, valid on the territory of the Russian Federation, and its copy;
9. 4 photos of 3x4 cm in size (without a headdress, all with a blank corner on the down right).
10. documents confirming the availability of benefits for admission to Izhevsk SMU in accordance with international treaties and the legislation of the Russian Federation, certified in accordance with the procedure established by law, as well as their copies (if available).
11. A copy of the visa for entry to the Russian Federation, if the foreign citizen arrived in the Russian Federation on an entry visa.
Besides within this period an applicant should provide to the International Relations Department of the University the following (for issuing an invitation to enter the territory of the Russian Federation):
• A scan/photo of the full page of the main page (where personal data is available) of a valid passport (the passport must have at least two blank pages intended for visas; the passport must not expire earlier than one and a half years (18 months) from the date of the visa's validity).

- State of birth.
- The exact place of birth (city, town, village, village).

2) September 27 - conference of applicants for entrance tests with the presentation of an identity document
3) September 28, 29 - entrance tests – chemistry, English. Only those applicants who have provided a complete set of documents before the start of the entrance tests are allowed to take the entrance tests. Documents are accepted in person and electronically.
4) September 30 - enrollment by order of the rector, conclusion of a training contract

Some facts about Izhevsk

Izhevsk is a large industrial city with the population over 600,000 people. It was established in 1760 around an ironwork plant. Now it's famous as a city where AK-47 is produced and where its creator Mikhail Kalashnikov lived. |

But there are also a lot to see: beautiful churches, like St. Michael's Cathedral, several parks, an embankment, zoo and much more. |

| Museum of famous composer P.I. Chaikovsky is located in the city of Votkinsk (60km from Izhevsk). You may go there by car or bus (single ticket costs about 200 roubles). | |
| If you are interested in nature beauties, you should enjoy the view from Mt. Ural in Sarapul (100km from Izhevsk). You may go there by car or bus too (single ticket costs about 160 roubles). | |
